[Desiree] With less than a week remaining until the Summer Games, I am more excited than ever to participate in this year’s event! After all, how often do you get to bring out both your inner child AND your best trash talker all in the same day? I have spent the last 15 years participating in a variety of fun runs, golf tournaments, black tie events, etc. and I have to say that Denver Urban Scholars’ Summer Games is in a league of its own—you will be hard pressed to find an event as fun-filled and community-focused as this! Attendees not only participate in field-day style games like human foosball and gigantic tricycle rides, but you also have the opportunity to network and engage with other like-minded “do gooders” right here in Denver. Add in a mix of delicious food, an amazing DJ, phenomenal local sponsors and volunteers—and it’s the perfect recipe for a great time supporting a GREAT cause!
Last year was my first time participating in this event and my team brought our best “Turtle Power,” walking away with a silver medal. We’re back for gold this year and ready to give the reigning “old dudes” of Puppy Crushers a run for their money! I hope you will consider joining with a team of your own or attending simply to cheer us on and support Denver Urban Scholars!

[Mike] Don’t call it a comeback. We’ve been here for years (OK, really just one, but it was our first attempt). As we look back at the 2015 Summer Games it is clear that the right blend of competitive spirit and adult beverages combined with old dudes without an outlet for those competitive fires can form a powerful and efficient team. Be careful if you see those old dudes in Motley Crue gear—they’re gunning to repeat as Summer Games Champs!
