Denver Urban Scholars has grown an average of 20% percent every year since its beginning in 1995. The organization is currently sponsoring more students than ever before with hopes of continuing to increase the number of scholarships and academic stipends and expand educational programs. Denver Urban Scholars appreciates the investment of all supporting partners and can only continue to offer improved services through contributions from the community.
A unique aspect of Denver Urban Scholars is that expenses associated with administrative salaries, overhead, and fundraising are paid directly by an outside donor. Funds received from foundations, individuals, and corporations are used exclusively for tuition assistance and program expenses. Having administrative expenses covered enables the organization to use contributions to provide educational opportunities to a greater number of students.
Denver Urban Scholars is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation as defined by the Internal Revenue Service. All contributions to the organization, including scholarship and stipend payments, are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by the law.
Denver Urban Scholars is now a Colorado Enterprise Zone Tax Credit program, meaning all donations $500 and greater are eligible for an additional tax credit (25% of the donation value). If you’re interested in having us fill out the paperwork for you to file for this additional credit, please contact Miranda Graul (mirandag@denverurbanscholars.
