2018 Career Fair: Broadening the Horizons for our Scholars
March 1st, 2018
The Career Fair turnout was fantastic from both a presenter and scholar lens. Students were exposed to careers ranging from massage therapy to architecture. Prior to the event, Clay and Holly Vanliere coached students on how to give an “elevator pitch” about themselves, resume writing tips, and how to market themselves while meeting face-to-face. This extra preparation helped students feel more comfortable and enthusiastic about meeting our presenters.
Representatives from Janus Henderson spoke to students about a paid internship/apprenticeship tech opportunity for those that are 16 and up. Other presenters offered opportunities for internships, job shadowing, and even employment.
We are so grateful for all of our corporate and community partners who participated as exhibitors. The participating representatives enjoyed talking with scholars during the event and afterward they were excited about future opportunities to get involved. Exhibitors included Janus Henderson, Epsilon, Otten Johnson, Orangetheory Fitness, McDonalds, Brain Balance, Empire Beauty School, Aveda Institute, and MIGcom, as well as representatives from education and military fields.
